About a year ago, I went out to One of a Kind Pets with my two siblings to buy our first puppy for the family. After looking at the different dogs, we finally settled on one and asked to fill out an application. While I was doing that, a lady was sent out to talk to me. She asked me basic questions, like how old I was and what not, but after a while she started putting me in the average teenage stereotype, I felt. She assumed I was dating my brother and started telling me how couples often break up and the puppies are abandoned. I explained he was my brother and the dog would be a family pet, not one to be shared with a significant other. She then asked if I went to school. I told her I was commuting at a local college, but there was always someone home to watch the dog. ( My mother does volunteer work but is currently unemployed.) She was still giving me a rough time after this answer, but continued with a series of questions like this. She then told me they'd have to call my parents to make sure it was okay. I pulled out my phone, ready to call but then she changed her answer. She said one of them would actually have to come in because ' I could just be calling anyone.' I felt because I was 18 at the time and with my two siblings, her mind was made up the minute I walked in the door. They say you have to be 18 to buy the animal, but that was obviously not the case. I didn't return to the store because I was so disgusted with the way I was treated. I know they want to find a perfect home for their animals, but I feel I should have been treated with a little more respect for the trip I took to get there. I bought a puppy at a different place shortly after and we've had her for almost a year now. She is doing just fine and recieving lots of love from her new family! I wouldn't recommend anyone go to One of a Kind Pets after my experience there.

We adopted a puppy from One of a Kind Pets last weekend and couldn't be happier with the process. We were there for over an hour looking at different dogs and the staff told us everything they knew about each one. They have some great dogs there looking for homes and I'd highly recommend anyone looking for a canine (or feline) friend check them out. The staff can help you find a dog (or cat) that fits your lifestyle (couch potato, very active, etc.). I volunteer at another shelter (who no longer takes in dogs, thus the need to look elsewhere) and One of a Kind Pets adoption process is the same, standard process. Yes, they ask a lot of questions. This is because they want to be certain that the pet you take home will be well cared for and not wind up back at their shelter, another shelter, or worse, the pound. You are not buying a pet, you are adopting one. We found an excellent match with our puppy and completed the paper work. Of course you get copies of the pets medical records and the staff will let you know what shots or procedures, if any, will be needed and when. I am so glad we decided to stop at One of a Kind Pets. The staff there gets big gold stars all the way around.

I walked into One of a Kind Pets in late July to look for a dog for my mom. I had been told by OTHER rescue agencies that my mom was "too old" to adopt a dog to. The lady at One of A kind NEVER even hinted to that but rather encouraged me to bring mom in to see a specific dog she recommended. I did and it was a great match. I was so impressed with the rescue place that I became a volunteer dog walker for them. The dogs and cats there are treated with love and compasssion by the staff there. I HIGHLY recommend ONE OF A KIND PETS!

I called this store twice on different days and talked to two different people. I was told they had 8 to 10 week old kittens all kinds of different colors. When we drove over 30 min to get there they had none. They had 15 week only kittens. They never had any, they just lied to get us there. Not happy. would not recommend. not to mention cats everywhere in the store
